News - Amalgamation of BHP Billiton SA Medical Scheme and Bonitas Medical Fund.

The Boards of Trustees of BHP Billiton SA Medical Scheme and Bonitas Medical Fund have approved the proposed amalgamation of the two schemes with effect from 1 July 2008. This remains subject to the approval from the Registrar of Medical Schemes.

The parties have agreed to a claims run off for the 4-month period. This means that claims with service dates up until (and including) 30 June 2008 will need to be sent to Old Mutual Healthcare and service dates from 1 July 2008 will need to be sent to Bonitas Medical Fund (Medscheme). If a claim has dates of service that spans 1 July, the claims will need to be split as mentioned above. Old Mutual Healthcare will also be dealing with enquiries (from members and service providers) for claims with service dates up until 30 June and Bonitas Medical Fund will deal with all claims queries with subsequent dates of service.
